I.T.® Protector

Eaton has all your surge protection needs covered with the Protector! The I.T. Protector is a premier line of Surge Protective Devices designed to provide excellent protection under the harshest electrical conditions. These products are UL 1449 and UL 1283 listed and meet strict guidelines for durability and protection. They are available in peak surge current capacities from 48 kA to 400 kA per phase and offer an optional Power Event Monitor.

The I.T. Protector offers symmetrical surge current distribution and high current density capability. S.M.A.R.T. diagnostic adds an audible alarm, surge counter, and phase-loss monitor, while the Power Event Monitor can provide continuous monitoring, logging, and reporting of power quality events in real time with time- and date-stamped event recording. Eaton offers a 20-year free replacement warranty on most models, so you know you are always protected.

I.T.® Power Event Monitor

The Power Event Monitor (PEM) is conveniently integrated into Innovative Technology surge protective devices without increasing the size of the footprint. The PEM is easily mounted on the door inside the SPD, and continuously monitors the electrical system while recording power-quality disturbances.

Communicating with the Power Event Monitor is accomplished by using Eaton's PEM Handheld or PEM PC Interface Software. Technicians can instantly access all monitored and event data by using infrared, RS-485, and wired or wireless Ethernet technologies. The PEM collects real-time data and stores up to 5000 power-quality disturbances. These records help facility managers pinpoint and correct the source of harmful power events, whether they are in a facility or at home.

I.T.® XT Series

I.T. XT Series Surge Protective Devices are designed for medium and low exposure level applications that require cost-effective, high quality system protection such as residential, small business, light industrial, light commercial, service entrance and branch panel protection.

The I.T. XT Series of SPDs uses Thermally Protected Metal Oxide Varistor (TPMOV) technology to provide high quality transient voltage surge suppression for light industrial, commercial and OEM applications. XT Series devices are the industries first UL1449 third edition listed products to achieve an industry best 20,000 amp nominal discharge current, and are available in configurations and current capacities of 50 or 100 kA per phase.

Innovative Technology Residential and Small Business Surge Protectors are designed to protect electrical and electronic loads from external electrical transients. The ac line units are designed to withstand surge currents up to 75 kA per phase and can be installed adjacent to electrical service panels.

We also offer compact residential surge suppressors for telephone and cable lines, with peak surge current capacity per phase of up to 75 kA. The combination of AC, telco and cable SPD's isolates your sensitive electronics from the damaging effects of transient voltage events. An extensive connected equipment warranty and equipment protection policy is provided with all ITRSPMIC, ITRSPMAX and ITRSPULT units.

I.T.® Critical Load

Innovative Technology Dedicated Load products provide an excellent solution to protect critical electronic equipment and provide clean power for sensitive electronic loads. They are series connected and offer flexible connection methods, compact size and superior protection for AC or DC circuits.

Eaton's Critical Load (ITHST) products are premium in-line filters with a hybrid MOV/ filter design. They are applied to protect sensitive electronic equipment from damaging voltage surges, spikes and electrical line noise by withstanding large inrush currents. Applications include Programmable Logic Controls, robotic equipment, ATMs, cash registers, alarm systems, computers, microprocessor-controlled OEM products, and automation and control devices.

IT Software

I.T.® Software

Power Event Monitor Handheld and PC Software is available from Eaton free of charge and provides the ability to monitor and control a SPD Power Event Monitor (PEM) using either a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) or Personal Computer (PC) in light commercial to heavy industrial applications.

Power Event Monitor Software accesses data that is critical to the efficient operation of your power system without exposing personnel to the danger of arc flash. It monitors phase voltages in real time, displays recorded sag, swell, and surge events, saves the PEM's event history log, and configures the PEM's operating parameters. The software communicates data locally via handheld programmer, remotely via infrared to any PDA, remotely over the internet, or through MODBUS.

  • Manufactured into the Protector Series SPD and shipped shelf-powered, thus requiring no installation.
  • Should loss of power at the SPD occur, the PEM will remain powered, allowing for the monitoring of outage duration and return of power.
  • Allows users to actually see what the SPD device is doing and to thereby identify and troubleshoot problems within the electrical distribution system.
  • Tying the PEM into an Ethernet backbone allows operators to access data from anywhere, through LAN to a PDA or PC via wireless communications.
